Google introducing ‘Solve For India’ program to Help Startups

Technology giant Google has announced its ‘Solve for India’ programme with an aim to support entrepreneurs and developers of the country, with a focus on the Tier II cities. The program was kicked off in Pune with a set of local entrepreneurs and will be taken to ten more cities over the course of the year. The internet giant wants to encourage budding entrepreneurs to come up with solutions that address the real-life problems faced in India and its underserved user needs. 

The programme will provide a platform to developersand entrepreneurs in smaller cities to hear from experts and gain access to direct mentoring and support from Google. The Launchpad accelerator program comes with six month mentorship program along with $50,000 (roughly Rs. 32 lakhs) equity-free investments. Google says it will also provide over $20,000 (roughly Rs. 12.8 lakhs) of Google cloud credits. The entrepreneurs will have access to more information about the usage of Google products including the product handling information, how to create mobile solutions using strong offline and language potentials, and other solutions in various sectors of the economy such as the healthcare, education, agri-tech, transportation and others. These facilities, in the term, will help the tier – 2 cities of India to grow further. Developers and entrepreneurs will gain from a variety of Google’s programs starting with the Google Launchpad mentoring program which will help them to build, scale and accelerate product ideas into category leaders. 

Apart from Pune, this program will cover Hyderabad, Chennai, Jaipur, Kolkata, Kochi, Indore, Nagpur, Nashik, Madurai and Kanpur. This would be an immersive, community-led program. Developers will have the opportunity to lear from the experts in across the areas of Android, Firebase, Machine learning, Cloud APIs, Progressive Web Apps, and Indian language translation solutions. The company expects to make drastic improvements in the country’s economy especially by focusing on the small and medium enterprises which as significant in any nation’s economy.
