BHIM App Gets Support For New Languages and Other Features

BHIM was launched in December by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote digital transactions. BHIM UPI app has been ruling the UPI apps’ segment since its launch. Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM), the common platform for making quick payments using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), is now available on Google Play Store with an updated version. The BHIM app has been updated to the version 1.2 that adds an array of new features and bug fixes. The BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) app has received a slew of improvements with this update.


This is the second update of the app since its launch on December 30, The update to the app is aimed at ensuring better accessibility as the government tries to promote digital payments across the country. With the upcoming update by the end of this week, the app will have support for seven other regional languages including Bengali, Odiya, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu. The existing version had only English and Hindi language options. Scan QR saved in phone gallery to saend money, send money using phone contacts and more.  BHIM app for Android gets the Pay to Aadhaar Number payment option that will let users transfer money to the Aadhaar number that is linked to the beneficiary’s bank account. The other feature added to the BHIM app is Spam Report that will help people block unknown persons who are sending money requests. Additionally, it now links to 35 private and public sector banks including UCO Bank, Bank of India, YES Bank and TJSB Bank.

NPCI also improved the privacy settings of the BHIM UPI app. It now gives you the option to disable your mobile_number@upi virtual payment address. You can now also report issues regarding any transaction. These reports can be sent directly from that transaction details page. Moreover, you can also check the status of the resolution of that issue. Finally, the update improves Customer Redressal Mechanism with drop down menu. Along with these, some other minor changes are also made with this update. 

Prime Minister Modi has launched the BHIM-Aadhaar digital payments platform to boost the digital payments revolution on the occasion of the 126th birth anniversary of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.  This feature will be available for Android smartphone users only. An iOS version will be launched by the NPCI soon.
